New pics of the Fire Station Sign.  "Ed and Katie DuChemin worked hard to make this project go smoothly.   As the block work and landscaping are finished we will add final photos."    Thanks!

BURNING ISSUES

(FIRE DEPT)

We’ve moved in to the new station. I

want to thank every one for their patience.

We held an open house on May 17th and had

about 200 people tour the new building. We will be planning

a more formal dedication ceremony this fall. On July

5th from 7am – 11am we will be having a pancake breakfast

at Camp Harvest. They’ve once again offered to hold

this to benefit the Fire Department. The proceeds will go

toward the construction of a training tower behind the

new station. We’re hoping to make this an annual July 4th

event. If you every have any questions, or are interested

in joining the Fire Department, feel free to call me. The

station number is 652-3757 or my

cell phone is (231)519-0434

Don't Light that Fire Without A Permit!

State Law requires a burning permit for any open burning done whenever the ground is not snow covered.  Call 1-866-922-2876 to obtain a burning permit, and to learn about local burning regulations.  Burn permits will only be issued for one day at a time, as the fire danger conditions permit, days with cool temperatures and calm winds.  Never leave your fire unattended, even for a moment.  State law requires that outdoor fires be attended at all times.  Extinguish your fire completely with water.  Using soil alone is not sufficient, and may actually allow it to escape control later.

Special Note:

The hours for the burn permit # are 8-am-8pm.  Upon calling the number it prompts you to also check or apply for a permit online at http://www.michigan.gov/burnpermit,  I filled out the information to see what the results would be and this is the message I received:

The direct link to fill out the info is here.  This is where you pick location and township.  Hopefully this will save you time when looking to get your burn permit.  Remember, conditions change each day and are updated at 10 am so the quickest way to check would be at the link provided above.

Update 4-25-07

Testing the above link for burn permits gave me an approval to burn as of today.  Please check back often if you want to burn and need permit approval.
